THE PERFECT WAVE FOR KITESURF WORLD CHAMPION DIRK HANEL

Things simply could not be better for the reigning world kitesurfing champion and THOMAS SABO fan, Dirk Hanel! At the PKRA (Professional Kiteboard Riders Association) Kitesurf World Cup at the Dutch seaside resort of Scheveningen, the top athlete from Nuremberg secured himself a place among the Top 10. In the “Course Racing” discipline, the amicable kitesurfing champion sped across the water in light to strong winds and – in part – in waves of up to two metres, self-confidently securing himself the best German result.
The contest took place against a backdrop of some excellent news, as kiteboard racing had recently been selected as an official discipline for the Olympic Games in 2016. In the jubilee year 2012, the PKRA World Tour will be held at a total of 14 hotspots across all six continents, although racing will be taking place at just 7 venues on 4 continents. To this end, the elite of the kitesurfing scene competes in the disciplines freestyle, wave and racing.
Dirk Hanel is the current world champion and is considered to be Germany’s best kitesurf racer.
