Charity project: RTL children´s center
THOMAS SABO has already been supporting the RTL donation marathon for several years. This year, the company founder Thomas Sabo and his wife Luz-Enith succeeded as part of the charity campaign in bringing a project to the local region of Nuremberg – the RTL children’s centre.
The background:The southern part of Nuremberg is a social trouble spot in the region. The basic needs of children from socially disadvantaged families are not adequately met in this part of the town. The children do not have a balanced diet or proper clothing and receive no personal attention.
There are also only limited leisure activities, public play areas and green areas in the southern part of Nuremberg.
The project aim:
With the RTL children’s centre we would like to create a space for these children where all these basic requirements are again met, a place where the children can feel at ease, experience stability and receive guidance. The RTL children’s centre is being constructed and set up in accordance with the “Würzburger Model” (building for safety and protection). This pedagogical concept is based on the strengths of the children and promotes the talents of each individual through appropriate theme areas. In addition to supporting the children, the work also focuses on co-operating with parents and networking with other facilities and services. The RTL children’s centre is scheduled to open in September 2011 and provide space to cater for the needs of 110 children between the ages of 0 and 6 years.
The project sponsor:
Nico Rosberg has committed himself as a celebrity sponsor for the project. For this reason, the formula 1 star visited an existing facility of the Rummelsberger services in Nuremberg. Playing and learning with the children, the 25-year-old sportsman realised the importance of care and individual encouragement of socially disadvantaged children.
The helpers:
THOMAS SABO and the THOMAS SABO Ice Tigers are supporting the project together with their fans, employees and sponsors. Over the next few months, donations will be collected in a variety of campaigns. The opening day of the season for the Ice Tigers on 29 August 2010 is the focus.
The supporting organisation: The RTL children’s centre is being implemented together with the children’s services organisation “Rummelsberger Dienste für junge Menschen GmbH”.
